Bukvoyed to expand in Ukraine
2010-03-18
In 2010 the Russian book retailer
Novy Knizhny-Bukvoyed intends to open at least seven stores under the
Chitay-Gorod banner in Ukraine. The first opening this year has been scheduled for April in Kiev.
It is worth noting that, in contrast with Bukvoyed’s decision to develop in Ukraine, another Russian book retailer
Top-kniga, has recently announced its decision to withdraw from the country and put its Ukrainian division – comprising five book stores – up for sale. (See the news brief

Novy Knizhny-Bukvoyed operates over 150 book stores in 20 Russian cities. These operate under the brand names Novy Knizhny, Bukvoyed and Chitay-Gorod. In Ukraine, the company operates one unit, which is located in the Dream House shopping centre opened in December 2009.
