2010-03-15
The Czech Office for the Protection of Competition (UOHS) has approved the acquisition of the
Koruna supermarket chain by the
Penta Investments Group. Penta acquired 46 Koruna supermarkets operating in Northern Moravia and Silesia, through its daughter company PR Market, for roughly CZK 100m (€4m).
Penta intends to further develop on the Czech retail market. The group plans to open more than 60
Zabka stores by the end of 2010 and to develop the Koruna supermarkets as well. Both chains are well established and have stable positions on the Czech grocery market.
Moreover, Penta’s aim is to lead the consolidation of an independent
retail market in Poland and the Czech Republic.
